This product is similar in composition to Cool ‘n Perform 15.

However, while it contains most of the essential properties of the Cool ‘n Perform 15, it has lower protein and a slightly lower energy density. Cool ‘n Perform 12 will, in most cases, meet all the demands of the general sporting and performance horse .

One of the main objectives with the composition of Cool ‘n Perform 12 is the gradual and prolonged release of safe energy to fulfill the needs of horses requiring sustained energy levels for the duration of an event. The Cool ‘n Perform 12 contains the same high levels of omega-3 oils (30ml/kg of feed) and live yeast culture (2.5grams/kg of feed) as the Cool ‘n Perform 15 ration does.

 Cool ‘n Perform 12 is high in quality fibres which ensure superlative digestive health.

The use of oils and super fibres also aids with the gradual release of safe energy.

This horse feed is high in anti-oxidants and is fortified with vitamins and minerals selected for high bio-availability.

Cool ‘n Perform 12 is free of raw maize and is also specifically recommended for horses prone to excitability due to its “calming” effect which is a differentiating feature of the ration.

Additional notes on Cool ‘n Perform 12 and 15

These two horse feeds are designed to be interchangeable. If extra condition is required and/or training intensity is stepped up considerably, simply change over to Cool ‘n Perform 15 for the required period. Once the desired condition and topline is achieved, or when the intensity of training is reduced, simply change back to Cool ‘n Perform 12 again.

Equus Cool ‘n Perform 12 should only ever be used to supplement good quality hay and/ or pasture.

To ensure a healthy gut the total roughage portion should never be less than 1% of bodyweight, but preferably at 1.5%. Always ensure the minimum roughage requirement is met and then adjust the amount of Cool ‘n Perform 12 depending on condition and workload. The Cool ‘n Perform 12 portion should preferably be limited to between 2 and 2.5 kg per feeding.

Depending on the workload, age, condition and quality of the available roughage, the average horse will require between 0.5% and 1% of body weight in Cool ‘n Perform 12 per day (e.g the average 500 kg horse will need between 2.5 and 5 kg of concentrate per day depending on daily needs).

Mixing in about 20% of water per weight to the Cool ‘n Perform 12 can aid palatability and many horses prefer the concentrate to be damp and crumbly when fed.

It is very important to ensure that your horse is fed the correct portion of food by weight, not by volume! All feeds have different densities and thus do not weigh the same. Therefore it is very important to establish exactly what weight (kg) your scoop holds of the specific product you are feeding.
